We collect information you provide directly to us, including:
- Account information (name, email address, and a hashed password — or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google)
- Prompts, briefs, and any content you enter to create books
- Books, text and images you create or upload and save to your library
- Purchase records (plan, amount, status). Card details are entered on and processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your card number
- Optional OpenRouter and OpenAI API keys, if you choose to supply your own. These are stored encrypted and are never shown back in full
- Technical data needed to run and secure the service, such as server logs and error reports
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve Authora AI — including drafting, illustrating, editing and exporting books
- Process your purchases and credit transactions
- Send transactional emails such as password-reset and security notices
- Respond to your support requests and questions
- Detect and prevent abuse of the service
Third-Party Services
Authora AI relies on third-party services to deliver its features. Your data is transmitted to them only as needed to provide that functionality:
- OpenRouter — routes your prompts and book content to AI model providers (for example Anthropic, OpenAI and Google) to generate text and images
- OpenAI — used directly for some image generation
- Stripe — processes card payments
- Google — used if you choose to sign in with Google
- Email delivery provider — sends transactional emails
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, API keys you provide are encrypted at rest, and sessions expire automatically. Images in your books are served from our servers and can be opened by anyone who has the exact image link, so do not share those links if an image is private.
Data Retention
We retain your account data and generated content for as long as your account is active. You can delete books from your library at any time. To request full account deletion, contact us at the address below.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access and receive a copy of your data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt out of non-transactional communications
- Restrict or object to certain processing
